History tutoring
Secondary 4 program

I recently embarked on a rewarding journey of tutoring a small group of Secondary 4 students in History to help them prepare for their ministry exam, which is scheduled for June of this year. History has always been a subject I've deeply enjoyed learning and understanding. Although the theory taught in Secondary 4, which primarily focuses on Quebec's history, wasn't the class I was most passionate about during my own highschool years, I still remember enjoying it a lot. Revisiting events I had forgotten and helping this group understand and remember them better has been an experience I've truly enjoyed.
Instead of just repeating the information multiple times, we engaged in discussions that allowed me to really test their understanding. These discussions help the students to express their thoughts and ask questions, making the learning process more interactive and fun. It was very rewarding to see them connect historical events to the present day. This method not only helped them retain information better but also sparked a genuine interest in the subject.
To further support their learning, I gave them a few resources I used back when I was taking that class. This includes educational YouTube videos that cover key historical events and concepts in an engaging and visually appealing manner. The overall experience has been very enriching and amusing. I find great joy in seeing the students' faces light up when they grasp a complex concept or make a connection they hadn't seen before. I'm pretty sure the feeling is mutual, as they often express their appreciation for the sessions. The enthusiasm and curiosity motivates me to continue finding creative ways to make history come alive for them.
We still have some work to do, but with the current motivation we've created and the energy during these tutoring sessions, I'm confident these students will be well-prepared for their end-of-year exam.
In conclusion, this tutoring experience has been incredibly fulfilling for me. It has reignited my love for history and allowed me to share that love with a group of eager learners. I am confident that with the continued effort and enthusiasm from both sides, these students will excel in their exams and carry forward a lasting appreciation for history.
CiSA's open house
Winter 2024
On Wednesday February 7th, my friends and i volunteered to be part of the Collégial international Sainte-Anne's open house. In the early evening, we helped welcome students and redirect them to their right groups for the visits and the workshops. Later in the evening, I joined the social science part of the visit and talked about the honours program and how it worked. I enjoyed seeing future students with stars in their eyes and chatting with them about what being a student here is like!
